South Borough Primary School
Head of School: Mrs T. Oakley
Executive Headteacher: Mrs J. Olivier
South Borough Primary School is currently a 1 form entry school in Maidstone. It became part of the Swale Academies Trust on 1st February 2015. In September 2015 the school began its journey to become a 2 form entry by taking 60 Reception children. Building work has begun to accommodate additional students.
At South Borough Primary School they believe every child matters and is at the heart of all they do. They aim to ensure they can read, write and calculate effectively when they leave them. Together with that they aim to instill a sense of pride, tolerance, determination and perseverance to help them in all aspects of life. Good behaviour for learning is key for children to make good progress. They reward and practice this behaviour at school with visual behaviour ladders in all classes.
They are currently using “letters & sounds” to teach phonics in Nursery & Reception and KS1. Some KS2 children have specific provisions for phonics too. The school has purchased new resources in Maths, including Mathletics and Bug Club for reading. Each class is teaching the new curriculum 2015. They have purchased a new scheme of work for PE & Computing to link to the new curriculum.
They collaborate with other Trust schools, namely Westlands Primary School and Regis Manor Primary School to ensure best practice is shared. They value their parents and have an active Friends of South Borough (FOSB) who regularly meet and organise events/functions/activities for their children.
Their aim is to lead the school to ‘Outstanding’.
